Cause I need you more than just for tonight You're oh oh all I care I can't stop my breathing in I'm weak and you were my medicine I won't stop till I am under your skin What a great way to start out her senior year. Getting pregnant. It wasn't that she knew for sure or anything, but Savannah had a pretty good idea she was going to find out. She knew she should have just waited until she was older, like twenty and married or something. But it just kind of happened. Her and her boyfriend Leo had finally done the deed of sleeping together. They had only been together for a year or so, but Savannah thought that she would be ready for this. Little did she know that this would get her so worried about things. She was five days late and she needed to find out now. Savannah had just showed up at Leo's one day with her car hoping that he'd just come with her.
And he did. So here they were, Vannah was dragging Leo through the mall trying to get to the pharmacy. There was no way she was going to find out alone. She had to go with some one. Leo was the only person she wanted to be with her when she found out if she was pregnant or not. Look what happened, he came. But he didn't know that they were going to be going to the pharmacy for a pregnancy test. Savannah didn't even say a word to Leo other then, come on, we're going to the mall. Well he came didn't he? So there the two were. Savannah had a tight grip on Leo's hand as her heart raced while they walked towards the pharmacy. He'd figure out eventually that she might be pregnant.
It was quiet between the two, the only noise coming from their foot steps and the other people laughing and talking around them. She was scared, more then ever. If her parents found out, then she would be dead. They'd probably ground her or send her away or something like that. That's not what was going to happen. She loved kids, babies too. She'd always dreamed since she was a little girl that she'd grow up and have babies and get married. Savannah would be a stay at home mom and her husband would work and come home to spend time with the kids and herself. But she never imagined having children at age seventeen. That's why she was suddenly so worried that Leo would be mad or something for getting her knocked up.
When they finally reached the pharmacy, Savannah let go of his hand as she slowly walked to the isle that she needed. She didn't know if he was following or not but she walked to the end of that isle and then pulled the nearest pregnancy test off the shelf. She bit down on her lip as she studied the little package. You'd be worried too if you thought you were pregnant, wouldn't you? Vannah took a deep breath and then finally looked over at Leo. What would his reaction be if she was pregnant? She really wanted to know, but at the same time was worried that she'd be alone after this. They never really talked about their future, if they were going to get married or anything. They were just too high school kids who thought they were in love...just add a tiny baby to the mix.

i feel like a hero, will you be my heroine? TIred. Exhausted. Leo flopped down on the couch. Waking up late was something he hated very much. Even if he slept late, waking up early was something he looked forward to everyday. Yes, call him a nerd, but it was how he was ever since he was a kid. Waking up late made him feel helpless and lazy, and today, he had now missed his two hour jog around the neighborhood. He figured he'd make it up later when his parents left. He turned on the television and wondered what Savannah was doing. She would be wondering why he hadn't called by now. He figured he'd surprise her. He walked upstairs and changed. It had been a while since he had seen Savannah. Well, a while for him, of course. Yesterday they went to the beach, and what fun that was.
Walking down the stairs, he grabbed his keys, and walked to the front door. But then the doorbell rang. He wondered who it was. He looked through the peep hole. It was Savannah. SHe looked beautiful, as usual, but for some reason, she looked sad. Depressed, even. Leo looked at her with worry in his eyes. Are you alright? He asked. No reply. He figured he'd just follow her, and not argue. Maybe she was PMSing or something. It was something girls did, after all. Leo loved her enough to understand. He sat in the passenger seat of the car, and they drove away.
The car ride was silent, and again, Leo didn't bother arguing. He just sat and waited. As they neared the mall, some light was shed on him. Maybe she needed some shopping therapy. Some problem with the folks, perhaps. As she pulled his hand as they walked through the mall, Leo couldn't help but wonder where exactly they were going. Normally, Savannah would be goin ginto ever store before they got some place they set their minds to. But he remained silent and followed her. Her grasp felt strong, and it sort of hurt him, in a way. Her nails were driving into his skin.
They reached the pharmacy, and once again, Leo pondered. Maybe she was sick? Maybe she needed more pads? But why would she bring Leo along with her? Couldn't she do that with herself, or her girlfriends? Leo followed her into the store. The walk to find the right aisle seemed endless, and Leo was in shock when they reached the maternity aisle. He noticed that Savannah was no longer holding his hand, as they walked down the aisle, her eyes looking for the right thing. And then it hit him. A pregnancy test? Was she pregnant? They did use protection. But condoms are only as effective as it gets. When Savannah looked up at him, he gave her a look of confusion and worry. He was scared. What would his parents think? What would her parents think? Are you sure? He asked her.

Cause I need you more than just for tonight You're oh oh all I care I can't stop my breathing in I'm weak and you were my medicine I won't stop till I am under your skin If Savannah was to go shopping or something, she'd take her girlfriends, but right now, she wasn't in the mood to even shop for anything. She would normally go threw every single store that appealed to her when she got there, but she was just too worried about being pregnant. Something that she didn't want happening until she was at least eighteen and living on her own. Married even. But she had a feeling that her parents weren't going to be one bit happy. She had no idea how Leo's parents would act either. It was just a matter of time until she found out. But did she really want to find their reactions?
Of course there was always the option of abortion or adoption, but both of those things seemed just, wrong for Savannah. The only thing that felt right to do to her was keep the baby. She'd keep it even if Leo didn't want the baby. If she gave birth to it, it was her blood and she was going to keep it no matter what any one says. If people gave her shit about being a mother at seventeen, she'd just bitch right back saying that she was plenty old enough. Of course she was though, in a way. She was mature, but young. She had even heard of fourteen year old's having children. It was an odd thought, but she had seen it before. Her cousin who was thirteen was even pregnant and already had a little baby!
Here Savannah was, making up all kinds of things she could do with the baby, when she wasn't even sure if she was pregnant for sure or not. But she just shook her head and shrugged at Leo's question about if she was sure. She nodded and then bit down on her lower lip. I'm five days late. I have to be. She knew there was a bathroom in the pharmacy or somewhere in the mall, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to find out in the middle of the mall or not. So she just took a deep breath and then without even saying anything to Leo, she walked up to the check out counter. Savannah placed the test on the counter and then took another deep breath. It was all she could do to keep herself calm.
Ignoring the looks from the cashier, Savannah looked at Leo and just wondered what was going through his mind right now. They never talked about anything that could happen if they had slept together. It was only once. Her first time, and she got pregnant. This was just great wasn't it? Vannah pulled out money and quickly paid for the test. She was only going to take one test, if it turned out positive, she'd just go to the doctors to make sure she was instead of going and taking zillions of tests. She didn't even know why she was taking one in the first place. What was the point if she was going to go to the doctors anyways? Why would you ever want to go and trust a little piece of plastic? Savannah would want to.
Savannah walked back over to Leo and then looked up at him, just waiting to see what he'd say. She was hoping that he'd either say, come on hon lets go home, or something like that. Give her an idea if he wanted to wait until they were home or find out now at the mall if she was pregnant. Vannah realized it'd probably be best to take it in a public place so neither her nor Leo's parents would find out about her being pregnant. Savannah bit down on her lip and then looked at the few guys outside of the pharmacy as they looked at Savannah like she was crazy for going and getting pregnant. Her brothers friends. That's who they were, and she really didn't want them telling her brother about this, so she went into another isle so they couldn't see, pulling Leo along.

i feel like a hero, will you be my heroine? Five days late? What did that even mean? Leo wished he had paid attention in health class. If it weren't for the fat kid infront of him who kept bugging him, talking about power rangers or whatever, he could actually concentrate with what was being talked about. But he didn't. and he regretted it. a lot. Leo looked at Savannah and then at his shoes. This was his fault. Right? I mean, it was his idea to do it in the first place. He knew she wasn't... 'experienced'. But then again, he had only done it one time before. Maybe he wasn't experienced enough. He sighed. It was like he was in a dream. This couldn't be happening. At least not to him. He was too good for this. She was too good for this. Was it karma? No. Leo didn't believe in karma.
As he followed Savannah to the cashier, it was clear that this was never going to be easy. He could see some guys talking and staring at them. He wanted to punch them oh so bad. He didn't even care that people were looking. But he kept his composure. He didn't want to draw attention even more. As if a seventeen year old girl and her boyfriend, buying a pregnancy kit wasn't bad enough. He was looking back at the boys. Why did they seem so familiar. But of course. Savannah's brother's friends. They were nothing but scum. He tried to shake them out of his head, and think about some statistics. How would they manage? Obviously, everyone will soon know. It wasn't as if they could keep a baby bump hidden for nine months. He couldn't even think about adoption- abortion, even more. He wanted the baby, although he was terrified to admit it.
Leo planned to have a family- but not this soon. He loved Savannah oh so much, and he knew she was the one. But not when they're in high school. Leo pondered even more as Savannah dragged him somewhere. He had enough money. He would just have to give up his college savings. College could wait, right? And it's not like it wasn't Leo's money. His parents didn't have anything to do with his davings. It was all him- from working during the summer, and part time during the school year- he had been doing it for several years now, he had at least a couple of thousands in there, now, didn't he? He sighed, as they neared an aisle far as possible from the crowd. There was a hallway behind them, with bathrooms. How convenient. You should just do it. Leo said. The drive back home to see the results would kill him. Let's just get it over with. He added.

Cause I need you more than just for tonight You're oh oh all I care I can't stop my breathing in I'm weak and you were my medicine I won't stop till I am under your skin Maybe being pregnant was a good thing. It had it's up and downs. Having a little baby was something that she could take care of to prove she was responsible. But also money wise, she'd have to get a job. Sure she has one now, but it's not a very good paying one. It was just giving her something to do. The only reason she didn't have a job, was because she was too busy with school and with volunteering at places she couldn't get an actual job at yet, like at an animal shelter or some place like that. In the summer though, she just wanted to relax, and be with Leo and friends of theirs. She just got money from her parents, but she had a feeling that if they found out about her being pregnant, that she would be kicked out or not be given any money to help take care of the baby.
Knowing that his little sister was buying a pregnancy test was something that Savannah's brother would hate. He'd say that she humiliated their family reputation and then probably think for a while before assuming that this was all Leo's fault and then try to kick his ass. Which Savannah really didn't want. But also having a baby would probably mean that her and Leo would become closer then before even. They were super close now, she trusted him with her life, literally too. But she was talking about them getting married and living together and just being together forever. As she thought of this, she was just assuming that this was nothing. She just told herself over and over she wasn't pregnant, just really really late and hope she got her 'monthly friend' soon. Which she knew deep down what the answer already was when she took that pregnancy test. But she didn't want to believe it..not yet.
Totally forgetting about her brothers friends, Savannah just nodded and then took a deep breath before taking the pregnancy kit and then going into the bathroom and locking the door behind her. She took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror. She was more scared then ever right now. What would her parents say? Would he leave her when she finds out? The couple had never spoke about what would happened if the condom broke or anything like that. At first when Savannah and Leo started to go out, she just thought he was going to be like every other boyfriend, they dated for a few months then broke it off for cheating or moving or something like that. But after seven or so months of dating, she realized he was the one for her, the one she wanted to be with her whole life. She knew she was in love, and if he had just dumped her to the side of the road when she really needed him, then he wasn't even worth it anymore. She'd get over it eventually, even though it'd pain her everyday seeing their child grow up.
Waiting for the little sign to pop up on the test, Savannah stared down at it waiting anxiously, afraid to blink. She was now just standing by the door and staring down at it. Then finally the little blue plus showed up on the test. This caused her to start to panic. She slid down the wall as she stared down at the test. She had to have just sat there for at least ten minutes before she finally realized that she was really pregnant. That's why she was suddenly so afraid to walk out and tell Leo. So there was nothing to do other then just bite down on her lip, holding back the tears that wanted to come out so bad. He was going to be mad, she knew he was. After about five more minutes though, she still hadn't cried, but she did stand up and open the door again before walking out again, clutching the test in her hand tightly. Savannah avoided looking up at Leo and instead looked down at the ground next to them. I'm pregnant. She whispered softly, she wasn't even sure if he had heard her or not.

i feel like a hero, will you be my heroine? Waiting for Savannah in the pharmacy bathroom was like waiting for rain in an endless drought in the sahara desert. He wanted to die. His stomach was turning, and he wanted to throw up. He wondered why of all people this could happen to, it had to be them- it had to be Savannah. He loved Savannah, and wouldn't want anything to happen to her. Especially something like this. He sighed, and placed his hands in his pocket. Some kids walked by. He pretended to look for something on the shelves. Lame. He was in the girl's aisle, where they were displaying several brands of sanitary napkins. The kids laughed. Leo didn't pay attention to them, and decided to read the back of the pack. Leo had never felt so awkward. He sighed, once again, and the kids left. He really didn't know what to do. He couldn't just leave, after all.
He expected Savannah to be mad at him. He had seen it on television. Images of her, hitting him as hard as she could, while tears ran down her face, screaming 'WHY'D YOU DO THIS TO ME!?', made leo cringe. He blamed himself. He felt the condom breaking. Or at least he thought he did. He was just so caught up in the moment, he didn't do anything about it. His heart was pounding. What was taking her so long? Surely it wasn't too hard to sit down, pee, and see what was on the stick. He was getting anxious. Well, more anxious. He hadn't felt this anxious since the day he got her pregnant. He started pacing, finally taking his hands out of his pocket and placing them under his arms. He was sweating.
Finally, she got out of the room. She didn't have to say it. He already knew. He could tell from her face. Leo felt his stomach turn even more. He wanted to go in that bathroom and projectile vomit. But he kept it in, and tried to look strong. When she mumbled the words, he never wanted to hear- or at least not in a while, a long while, he reached over and gave her a hug. the biggest hug he could ever give to anyone. He just wanted to stand there, until the world ended. He didn't want to go anywhere. He wanted to cry, but knew if he did, it would only make things harder for both of them. He pulled on her hand.
Come on. He said. He figured they could go get an ice cream or something. It wouldn't hurt the baby, right? and they needed to talk. About the future. Obviously, Leo's plans for college have been crushed then and there. He had to use the money that he had been saving up. He just had to. IT was a lot. There was a lot more, extra's, as well. It was called good business. Leo didn't just mow the lawns of the town, he mowed the lawns of the richest neighborhoods, ergo he was paid more. A lot more. And he didn't blame them- they had huge lawns- acres, even. Which was why Leo was in the shape he was now- strong and buff. But back to business. As he neared the dairy queen, he got them both ice cream sundaes, and paid. He looked for a seat, all the way in the back, and sat down.

Cause I need you more than just for tonight You're oh oh all I care I can't stop my breathing in I'm weak and you were my medicine I won't stop till I am under your skin When she had came out of that bathroom, Savannah had known that she didn't even have to say anything for him to know that she was indeed pregnant. It was both of their faults. She wasn't going to take all the blame and she wasn't going to let him either. It takes a girl and a boy to make a baby. That's exactly what Leo and Savannah did. Without even realizing that she was going to be having a baby nine months later. Savannah looked down at the floor but her head shot up when he had came over and hugged her. All she could do was hug back. It hadn't totally sank in yet, that she was going to be a mother and that she was going to have Leo's baby. But she knew it would soon and it wasn't going to be pretty when all she does is sit around her house and cry. Confused about everything in the world and why it had to be her to get pregnant.
Savannah felt Leo tug on her hand and when she looked up, they were heading for the dairy queen. She was surprised that he hadn't ran out of the mall or screamed or something. He seemed just, neutral. No emotion in him really. But she could see pain in his eyes. Something that she never wanted to see in Leo and hadn't until just now. She swallowed and then chewed on the bottom of her lip, it was a way of keeping from crying. It helped Savannah out actually in a way. There was no doubting that. She took a deep breath as he had gotten their ice cream and then she followed him to the back and sat down at the table across from Leo. She stared down at the ice cream for a minute and just stared at it for a while before shaking her head and then looking out the window next to them. She didn't know what to say at all. Savannah just badly wanted to know what was going on in his mind right now. Was he sad? Pissed? Scared? Happy? Excited? Confused? There was a lot of emotions running through Savannah right now and she was just confused as ever.
Turning back to her ice cream, she lifted her spoon and took one bite before putting her hand over her mouth and swallowing quickly. She really didn't want to eat right now. It felt like she was going to throw up but she held it back and then looked down at her hands that were sitting in her lap. Savannah didn't know what to expect from Leo at this point. So she just looked up at him and then bit down on her lip. What do we do? She asked quiet. Did he want to put it up for adoption? Did he want to keep the baby? Would they grow up a little and get married? Or just leave the baby with Savannah? She may be too young to have a baby, but she wanted to keep the baby, Savannah was protective when it came to her being around little babies and she wasn't going to give one up just like that. Especially when it shares her blood and the one she loves. But after this, after it sinks into Leo's mind, would he want to be with her still? That's just what worried her the most, she didn't know what to expect from him right now.
Savannah's parents were really strict when it came to sex before marriage. They weren't really all that religious, but that was the one rule that they had. Well of course the little ones like no driving and drinking. But the big one was no sex before marriage. And she knew what was going to happen. Her parents were going to find out and then tell her to get an abortion or she couldn't live with them. But that was fine with Savannah. She'd go against her parents wishes of course, she wasn't going to go and kill it! That was just way too much. She'd rather go with adoption which she doubted would happen. But of course she couldn't go live with Leo. He probably didn't even want her around now because of her having his baby. So she'd probably have to get a job soon and start getting more money so she can get an apartment..or she could probably just go live with one of her friends. Savannah was in deep shit here and she didn't know what was going to happen at all. So many possibilities and so little courage to stand up to someone and tell them no.

i feel like a hero, will you be my heroine? Although Leo was scared as heck of thinking about it, he did want to keep the baby. It was his, no matter what. An abortion would only put him through even more pain, and an adoption would only make him feel like a failure. And besides, he did think of being a father one day, to share that bond with his kid. His father was always away. He didn't want that to be the case. But then again, he would have to work a lot. His parents were strict christians, by far, and the news of Leo being a father would kill them- but one thing they always told him, no matter what, they'd always love him, and be there for him. Leo shared that parent-son bond with his parents. He always had. But he knew it was sort of different with Savannah. They were strict. He knew that. He didn't know how they would take it.
I don't know. He said, placing his hand on hers. but i will tell you what we won't do. He said, lifting his chin up from the ice cream he was eating. We're not going to kill it. or give it up. Leo made it clear. he didn't care if she didn't want it, although it was a fat chance that she would probably want to keep it. Savannah was always the motherly type. He loved bringing her to his cousin's house, as most of his cousins are younger than her, she'd play with them, and tell them stories. She was born to be a mother, there was no doubt about it. But at this age? Leo gave her a smirk, and looked back down on his sundae.
What do you feel at this very moment? He tried changing the subject, although he agreed that he had failed to do so. He felt scared. But at the same time, although he didn't want to admit it, happy. He didn't know why. He had too many things to worry about- his parents, the money.. But then again, he was going to have a kid- someone to call his own. Someone to call son. His stomach felt weak, again, and he wished he hadn't eaten so much ice cream.
occ; gahhH! sorry it took so long!
